Interview Questions

  • Q1. Reverse Integer

    You are given a 32-bit signed integer ‘N’. So, the integer will lie in the range [-2^31, 2^31 - 1]. Your task is to return the reverse of the given integer. If reversing causes overflow, then return -1.

    Note:

    (1) Do not use data types with the capacity of more than 32-bit like ‘long int’ or ‘long long int’ in C++. The problem is meant to reverse the integer using a 32-bit data type only.
    
    (2) You should assume that the environment does not allow storing signed or unsigned 64-bit integers.
    

    Input Format:

    The first line of input contains an integer 'T' representing the number of test cases.
    
    The first and the only line of each test case contains a 32-bit signed integer ‘N’ representing the integer to be reversed.
    

    Output Format:

    For each test case, return the reverse of integer, ’N’. 
    
    The output of each test case will be printed in a separate line.
    
    Note:
    You do not need to print anything, it has already been taken care of. Just implement the given function.
    
    Constraints:
    1 <= T <= 5
    -2^31 <= N <= 2^31 - 1   
    
    Time limit: 1 sec
    
  • Q2. Longest Common Prefix

    You are given an array ‘ARR’ consisting of ‘N’ strings. Your task is to find the longest common prefix among all these strings. If there is no common prefix, you have to return an empty string.

    A prefix of a string can be defined as a substring obtained after removing some or all characters from the end of the string.

    For Example:
    Consider ARR = [“coding”, ”codezen”, ”codingninja”, ”coders”]
    The longest common prefix among all the given strings is “cod” as it is present as a prefix in all strings. Hence, the answer is “cod”.
    
    Input Format:
    The first line of the input contains a single integer, 'T,’ denoting the number of test cases.
    
    The first line of each test case contains a single integer ‘N’ denoting the number of strings in the array.
    
    The next line contains ‘N’ space-separated strings denoting the elements of the array ‘ARR’.
    
    Output Format:
    For each test case, print a single string corresponding to the longest common prefix.
    
    Print the output of each test case in a separate line.
    
    Note:
    You do not need to print anything. It has already been taken care of. Just implement the given function.
    
    Constraints:
    1 <= T <= 10
    1 <= N <= 3000
    1 <= |ARR[i]| <=1000
    
    Each string consists of only lowercase letters.
    
    Time limit: 1 sec
    
  • Q3. Selection Sort

    Selection sort is one of the sorting algorithms that works by repeatedly finding the minimum element from the unsorted part of the array and putting it at the beginning of the unsorted region of the array.

    You are given an unsorted array consisting of N non-negative integers. Your task is to sort the array in non-decreasing order using the Selection Sort algorithm.

    For Example:
    Selection Sort implementation for the given array:  {29,72,98,13,87,66,52,51,36} is shown below :-

    Input Format:
    The first line of input contains an integer 'T' representing the number of test cases. Then the test case follows.
    
    The first line of each test case contains integer 'N' denoting the size of the array.
    
    The second line of each test case contains 'N' single space-separated integers representing the array elements.
    
    Output Format:
    The only line of output of each test case should contain the given array sorted in non-decreasing order.
    
    Note:
    You do not need to print anything, and it has already been taken care of. Just implement the given function. Also, you need to update the given array in place only.
    
    Constraints:
    1 <= T <= 100
    1 <= N <= 100
    1 <= Arr[i] <= 1000
    
    Where 'T' represents the number of test cases, 'N' represents the size of the array, and 'Arr[i]' represents the elements of the array.

This round conducted around 11 AM

The environment is good, You can't change the window so googling the answers is not possible. you have to be quick to answer most of the questions, Don't spend too much time on 1 question, Just mark that question, so that if you have time you can complete it in the end

The interviewer was strict, no cheating allowed, Mobiles are kept in Bag

It was night when my interview was scheduled ,Interviewer asked the questions on SQL, Angular, DBMS,OOPS Concepts, Java programming, Operating system ,Some 1-2 is tough and others questions I answered very well, He asked me to explain oops concepts like polymorphism ,Encapsulation, Inheritance with the help of real life examples.He asked to code 1 pattern question at end.

Round description -

It was round at next day morning,this round time duration is 30 minutes, interviewer was medium not too strict

Main surprising part of this round is ,Interviewer ask technical questions on Computer Networks and Pointers-they asked me OSI Model, IPV4 and types of protocols used in Different layers of OSI model and few Questions on Pointers,I didn't expect technical questions in HR round

L&T interview preparation:Interview preparation tips for other job seekers - Ok so basic thing you need to remember during the interview is just don't exxagerate about things you don't know. Be relevant while giving answers just don't say for the sake of giving answers because if they pick up your wrong answer and made questions out of it you'll nit be able to answer it and this will make them think you know nothing . else simply say I don't have much knowledge regarding this or I'm just in the initial stages of learning it . Be prepared regarding your internship and give precise answers and in such a way that the next question comes out of it and in your favour. It's upto you to take the interview in the right direction or wrong( things you don't know about).
Also being a civil engineer if you are expert in any of the softwares like AutoCAD or StaddPro then it's great or else you can say you're in the learning stages of it , if you have mentioned it in the resume.

LNT interview preparation:Interview preparation tips for other job seekers - This interview was a technical one but was majorly a stress test. It lasted for about 1 hour 10 minutes. The interviewer wanted to test both my knowledge and communication skills. Most of the questions asked to me were related to my B.Tech curriculum i.e. computer science related topics. He stressed a lot on the basics related to my project topic. Luckily I was able to answer most of the questions correctly. I tried to answer each question with examples and also used props on the table (like pens, paperweights, pen stands etc.) to explain my theories. It was my first offcampus interview, and I think I did pretty well for a fresher. You need to stay calm and should apply presence of mind. Please go through the job description thoroughly word-by-word and recheck your resume to ensure that you are a best-fit for the position.
